The Gary Norris Promise Award was created in memory of Gary Norris, a USC Viterbi alumnus who passed away in 2009. Gary was passionately involved with the USC Formula SAE Team, and thus the award is presented annually to the student who best exemplifies his team spirit, leadership skills, creativity and dedication.
The world lost a beloved family member, a true friend, and a valued colleague when GARRETT MARTIN NORRIS left us suddenly and unexpectedly. He obtained a bachelors degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of Southern California in 2004, enabling him to pursue his passion for anything with wheels at RPA, Isuzu, Kett Engineering, and Mercedes-Benz. The Gary Norris Promise Award was established in 2012 to honor the memory of Gary Norris. Selected by his/her teammates, the annual award goes to the individual who exemplifies the same true team spirit and dedication as Gary Norris.
